John Lazas is authorized to serve as a Regional Director with the American College Foundation and is also a Certified College Advisor. As such, he is passionate about helping high school students and their families navigate the complex process of college planning and funding. In the process, he helps them access the most pertinent and valuable resources and strategies to ensure that students get the best possible education for their field of choice…at the best price. John is particularly attuned to the concerns and desires of his clients given that he, his daughter, and daughter’s mom have recently gone through the college planning and funding process.
John grew up in Silver Spring, MD, obtained his BA in Political Science from James Madison University (Harrisonburg, VA) and MA in International Studies from The American University (Washington, DC). After several years working in the international arena, he moved into the field of finance where he has spent the past 18 years. John has resided in Boulder, CO for the past 25 years.
John is the proud father of his wonderful 18-year-old daughter McKenzie (who’s heading off to college soon!) and 12-year-old Pomeranian ‘Elf,’ and grateful partner to the love of his life, Rita.
He enjoys hiking, playing the guitar and singing, traveling internationally, and having new experiences of all kinds.
One of John’s his favorite quotes is from the business leader and philosopher Jim Rohn: “Don’t wish things were easier…wish you were better.”
